PIANO

At the heart of New Horizon are the warm, rounded tones of Petrof upright pianos, shaped by a family tradition dating back to 1864.

We experimented with rubber, tape, and chains to create unexpected textures, bringing new character to the piano while keeping the chords open, rich, and full of atmosphere

DOUBLE BASS

We recorded the double bass inside one of La Masia’s echo chambers, capturing the natural resonance of the space alongside close-miked detail.

The result is a sound with a defined attack, a warm low end, and a wide, evolving stereo image shaped by the room itself.

DRUMS

The DW drum kit was recorded at the center of the room, with acoustic panels helping us balance focused close-miked sounds with the natural ambience of the space.

The cymbals and toms retain an open, expansive character, while the kick and snare bring a tighter, more modern punch to the grooves.

RECORDING GEAR

The entire collection was recorded through a vintage NEVE 5104 console and run through an Otari MX tape machine, adding warmth, depth, and subtle analog character to the sound.

Every element was captured to preserve the natural tone of the instruments and the unique acoustics of La Masia, blending organic performances with a wide, cinematic atmosphere.
